Homeopathy is a form of natural medicine that has been in use worldwide for over 200 years. Based on a principle that was discovered by the Greeks and developed by the German physician Samuel Hahnemann, it is based on the principle of like cures like. Using infinitely diluted medicines it seeks to address the patient as a whole either on a constitutional, historical or pathological basis. By carefully matching the presenting signs and symptoms to the remedy we can aim to gently ease or cure signs of illness by working energetically through the body’s own healing mechanisms.
An initial homeopathic consultation differs greatly from a conventional veterinary visit. We look not only at the patients symptoms from a conventional viewpoint, but also delve into the animals character, the way in which environmental conditions affect the symptoms and emotions as well looking at how past illness and nutritional factors can affect health. By doing this we can aim to find the remedy or remedies which most closely match the patient and their symptoms from the several thousand we have at our disposal from the animal, vegetable and mineral kingdoms. We often use homeopathy in conjuction with other therapies such as acupuncture, nutritional supplements or herbal medicine.
We have experience in treating dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, cattle, rabbits and other small animals for a wide range of both acute and chronic conditions including both emotional and stress related issues. We can also provide homeopathic support for animals with cancer evn if they are having ongoing conventional treatment. Some of the most common conditions we see are outlined below but if you want to know more about how homeopathy works then click HERE for an in depth look.
